Good Morning from Chicago, Friends, or a good whatever time of day it is wherever you are. I’m just getting settled into the new place in Chicago and should have my little music studio put together soon.
The most exciting news from here, though, is that my new record - Never Let The Truth Get In The Way Of A Good Story - will be released in two weeks, on October 1. You’ll be able to hear it on the usual streaming services and will be able to buy a physical copy on Bandcamp, or by contacting me personally. There are 14 tracks on the record, 10 written by me, two that I cowrote with Jeffrey Fleishman and one each by Rick Reiley and Wayne Grajeda. If you’d like a preview, a video of one of the tracks - Firemen’s Ball - is now up on Youtube. If you do manage to have a look, please subscribe to my Youtube channel while you’re there.
Awhile back I told you about some of the people who played on the record. The group of musicians who contributed to the record is made up of some amazing players from all over the map. Lots of my Okie homegirls and boys, some members of my Berlin band Melvin Touché and The Tom Toms, and some other folks who might be familiar to those of you who read record credits. Those people include Chuck Eller (Kilimanjaro and The Paul Butterfield Blues Band) on keys and strings, Debra Dobkin, who has toured or recorded with the likes of Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal and Richard Thompson, to name a few, and my old pal George Marinelli, Jr (Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Hornsby and many others).
So I’ll be heading to Berlin in a few weeks to promote the new record and finally do some gigs with my band. Check the tour page on my website for more info on live gigs, and if you’re in the area, come on by for some cool music and cold beer.
